Somalia leaders concluded security summit


National security council summit held in Baidoa on 3-4 June concluded and issued communique.

The meeting was chaired by president Mohammed Abdullahi Farmajo, Prime minister Hassan Ali Khayre and regional leaders took part the summit with chiefs of army, police and intelligence.

Security related issues was discussed in the meeting, leaders considered the security independence of Somalia.

Countering terrorism, fuelling the war against Al-Shabab and equipping the army was also discussed during the Baidoa meeting.

Leaders agreed to prepare Somalia’s army as part of traditional plan to take over the security responsibility from the African Union troops in Somalia.

Somalia leaders also agreed main political issues related electoral model and resources sharing.

This meeting was also preparation of Security summit about Somalia in which will be held in Brussels on 25 and 26 of June.
